THE REVERENT WITNESS OF MEANINGFUL MOMENTS
The next psalm after the last

Each word into which you are broken
and in which you grow, will also vanish.

What might you declare
about an apple that is intact

only once its side is scarred by bites.
And what of a turtle's shell

empty on a shore of sand
when that which was once flesh

its soul no longer visible
from inside its swaying armor

in the wind. From its sanctuary, eternally
permanent now in belief.

And what might you then dare
say, what syllables emerging

from your mouth. Withering arrowheads
headed somewhere yet further

as if aimed, in you.

Bright water beads

Behind the window

Deep gouges in the middle of the...

Then you started explaining again

I can not sleep even though I...

The weight of November's damp fog

This afternoon, I cut my finger

The next psalm after the last

Confession in wedding garb
