WHAT LIES BEHIND THE FAMILIAR WINDSCREEN
Method

He was hanged by his feet in an apple tree
and shot. Against the light.

He wasn't here alone.

Under the apple tree. The two of us. No method
no guru.

Here there are no statues. No wisdom
or teachers.

The water rushing. Here and there. The water turns
to speech.

We skip about. Random sounds.
Beauty-formed words.

Here there are heavy apples. Nightmares
on black boughs.

Too clear.
The storm threw them down the hill yesterday.

The air cleared wordless. Wordlessness
said too much.
