AGNETA ENCKELL (b. 1957) has published seven collections of poems since 1983. . Enckell has also written works of text/sound/music for stage and radio in co-operation with composer Patrick Kosk. Among these works are Ord har hål (Words have holes, 1990), No Solution (1996), Icebice/paradis (1999), No Name (2000).
THROUGH HOLES, GLASS AND STONE
 

a shimmering wing    not
to turn
round when the shotlet
the reflections extend -

for there is after all a yearningafter
wards the water turns pale
in the glass our eyesit was the lack
in our love, until


and it was the shore where the birds waited
and the shot we knew was going to come, that rang out
and then we despaired,


and not to turn round where
the reflections and that love is
a yearning after
lack and that which is lacking, in
